White Mountains – Spring 2025

From May 17 to May 26, Joyous Vagaries took a trip to the White Mountain National Forest, staying at Dolly Copp Campground.  Out of those 9 days, all but one had cool temps (mostly low 40’s), much off and on rain, and some wet snow the day before departing on a completely sunny day.

For the one good day we had, our joyous vagary was a visit to Flume Gorge in Franconia Notch State Park.  The sun was out, and the temps were in the mid-50’s.  The falls within the Gorge were flowing quite well. Since it was “pre-season”, there weren’t a lot of people visiting the Gorge.

In addition to visiting the Gorge, we drove along the Kancamagus Scenic Byway between Conway and Lincoln, NH, to take in some views.  Given the inclement weather during our stay, a drive up the Mount Washington Auto Road or a hike anywhere in the area was not in the cards.  The day before we departed, we were finally able to see not only the Presidential Mountain range, but also the snow on top!

Be sure to visit the White Mountains Gallery for images!
