Having left L’Anse aux Meadows we stayed at the Dockside Motel in St. Barbe in order to catch the QAJAQ (pronounced Kayak) W Ferry to Blanc-Sablon, Québec, which is a 1.5 hour ride across the Strait of Belle Isle. Much to our surprise, there was 5G cell service in Blanc-Sablon, so we are taking advantage of getting this post out before going into the land of no cell service.
Upon arrival, we made camp in a place called Parc Goodchild. This park was built as a memorial to the two lives lost due to an avalanche in March of 1995, as well as for the families that were relocated as a result of that tragic event.
Before settling in at the campsite, we made a stop at Hometown Grocery for some essentials. While there, we collected the groceries we would need for the next few days and met a woman who has been with this store for over 30 years. Dear ML, the candle has been lit. A blessing on your house! Thanks for the quarter!
Our day ended with a serene sunset. Thank you so kindly, Blanc-Sablon, for providing a safe and comfortable place to camp for the night. We are about to pack up and move north.
