Today was a return trip to Hamilton Cove in order to complete the remaining trails, hiking the Meadow Trail, Beach Trail, and finally the Hamilton Cove Preserve Trail, which is a 2.7-mile out-and-back trail. Adding the Meadow and Beach side trails, the hike totaled 3.58 miles.
The terrain was nicely varied: grassy open fields (with and without puncheons), and forest hiking with some roots and a few rocks (nothing difficult to navigate), There are a few short side paths off the main trail which provide some nice water and coastal views. Approximately halfway along the trail, and again near the end of the trail, a bench can be found to sit upon and enjoy views of Grand Manan, the rocky coast, and the expanse of Grand Manan Channel.
All in all, a very nice hike today. Temps were in the low 70’s and breezy enough to keep the majority of bugs away.
