PA 850

Taking a shorter day of the NOBO LASH, this 6.3-mile section of trail spans between the Scott Farm AT Work Center and PA 850.  It was another cool start, with temps back in the 30’s.  The skies were clear, with increasing winds as the morning progressed.

A beautiful view to the south was afforded after a somewhat steep climb to Darlington Shelter.  Along the way, an old rusted car frame was seen in the woods, which was upside down, and still had what was left of the tires on the rims.  There’s a story there, for sure!

For wildlife sightings, here is a first (for me, anyway):  seeing a duck land on a tree branch.  Yes, ducks do nest in trees (had to look that up!).  Also seen today were several Bluebirds.  No sighting, but a Yellow-Bellied Sapsucker was heard nearby, drumming on a tree.

Met a number of people along the trail; some were day hiking, and others were section hiking.

Toward the end of the hike, there was more pasture walking to be had, and a couple of road crossings.

Another great day for a hike!

Be sure to visit the Pennsylvania Gallery!
