Another short day of the NOBO LASH, this 6.4-mile section of trail spans between Duncannon, PA and Peters Mountain Rd (PA 225). What happened to Days 16 – 19, you ask? Recuperating from a minor mishap on Day 15, moving day to a new ‘base camp’ in Pine Grove (which happened to be a rainy day), and the rest to wait out the rains that inundated central PA for the past 3 days.
The hike started with temps in the upper 30’s, foggy, and little wind. There was a 15% chance of rain around mid-day, which proved totally false as the rain was light and steady for the last 45 minutes of the hike.
There were some views, along this section of trail, but the fog prevented any good view of the Susquehanna River below.
Despite a soggy start and end to the hike, it was most enjoyable. The day ended with a great meal (and a local beer!) at the iconic Doyle Hotel in Duncannon, PA.
Be sure to visit the Pennsylvania Gallery!
You can’t see the Susquehanna River due to the fog below, but you certainly can hear a train going through, from 1270 feet up!
