Gros Morne: Rocky Harbour

In this segment of our Newfoundland trip, moving up the Viking Trail, we explored a different section of Gros Morne National Park. For this visit, we stayed at a very nice motel, called Fisherman’s Landing Inn, located in Rocky Harbour.

The highlight of this portion of our trip was the Western Brook Pond Tour, provided by Bon Tours. Captain Craig did a great job piloting the pond. KJ Hollahan was our ‘tour guide’. He was quite knowledgeable about Western Brook Pond, and very entertaining, especially during the return to dockside! Check out his YouTube channel! His music can be purchased on the iTunes Store.

While in Rocky Harbour, we visited the Lobster Cove Head Lighthouse, which afforded us some nice views of the Gulf of St. Lawrence and Rocky Harbour (the actual harbor and the town). We also stopped at the site of the S. S. Ethie. Not much to see of the wreckage, which was fine with us.

Earle’s Restaurant in Rocky Harbour had some excellent Pan Fried Cod. It was delicious!! Across the street from the restaurant is Coyley’s General Store, which has all kinds of things: groceries, assorted clothing, hardware, sundries, etc.

Below are some images from this segment of the trip.
