Gros Morne: Tablelands/Trout River

After leaving Cape St. George, our next stop was to include a visit to Gros Morne National Park in the area of Bonne Bay. On the way, we stopped in Stephenville to take in a short hike on the Petrified Trees Trail, followed by a stop at the Newfoundland Insectarium in Reidville. The Insectarium has wonderful displays of insects from all over the world, several ‘live’ displays, and our personal favorite, a butterfly garden! This place is well worth a visit.

Before stopping in Reidville, we saw a cow moose and her calf cross the road in front of us – a brief, but wonderful sight!

The highlight of this segment of our trip was seeing The Tablelands. Words can barely describe this awesome landscape that was created almost 500 million years ago! Walking on the earth’s mantle was one for the bucket list.

We visited Trout River to see one of the National campgrounds, and caught some serendipitous views along the way.

Below are some images and videos of this segment of our trip.
