After finishing central Florida, we made our way to Paynes Prairie Preserve State Park. It was cool to see many trails of where alligators dragged themselves through the mud out into what looks to be a very expansive prairie.
We moved to Rice Creek Conservation Area where we took short hike on a gravel trail. It was a peaceful hike, where we enjoyed the small birds hiding in the bush.
We then journeyed on to the Florida Trail, that passes through Etoniah Creek State Forest. We especially enjoyed the Long Leaf Pine in this area.
We moved on to our final place in northern Florida at Ocean Pond Campground at Osceola National Forest. It’s cool that the Florida Trail passes right by the bath house where swamp-muddied hikers can grab a shower!
