On this day of the NOBO LASH, this 7.6-mile section of trail spans between Keys Gap and Harpers Ferry, WV. The hike started from Keys Gap before 8:00 AM. The temps were much cooler today, which started in the mid-30’s, and felt much colder with the wind chill.
Three NOBO hikers were seen today (one was solo). Based on the size of each pack, all seemed to be section hikers. Most of the trail was quite rocky, with only one small length that had no rocks on the trail at all – a rarity! There were no wildlife sightings today other than another plethora of grey squirrels scampering about.
Before the end of the hike, a stop was made at the Appalachian Trail Conservancy (ATC) in Harpers Ferry to pick up ‘Nuf Said’s hiker tag, who is now logged in as hiker #18 from the ATC location.
The two best views of the day were from the bridge walks on the AT over the Shenandoah and Potomac Rivers. The hike ended with temps in the low to mid-40’s, sunny, yet still very breezy, making the temps feel like they were in the upper 20’s to low 30’s by the end of the hike.
This wraps up the WV section hiking. On to Maryland!
