This is a 19.7-mile section of the NOBO LASH. Like the previous post, this section was also completed over the course of two days. It spans between Blue Mountain Lakes Rd and Deckertown Turnpike/NJ 650. Both days offered fine views. The first day started in the upper 40’s, cloudy and damp, but the clouds soon gave way to sunshine and warmer temps. The second day started with temps in the 30’s overcast skies, but no rain or fog!
There were a couple of instances requiring a somewhat arduous rock climb to reach the top of the ridge, but certainly not as difficult as it is to scramble up the rocks of Blue Mountain in Lehigh Gap. There are two shelters in this section of trail: Gren Anderson Shelter and Mashipacong Shelter. Completely unexpected, the Mashipacong Shelter has a privy that is completely painted pink inside – the color Pepto Bismol – wow…!
In all, the hike over these two days was very enjoyable, as were the views.
