Another break from the Appalachian path, we took a side trip to the Coastal Maine Botanical Garden in Boothbay. The garden was, as so many botanical gardens are, a lovely visit. There were many plants and trees in bloom. Throughout the garden there were many sculptures, art installations, and 5 ‘monster sized’ trolls (Roskva, Lilja, Birk, Soren, and Gro) which were great fun to see. We didn’t have time to see all of the Garden, so a return visit is in our future.
The trolls were created by “recycle art activist” Thomas Dambo of Copenhagen, and built on site in 2021 by Dambo’s team along with help from the Garden’s staff and 150 volunteers. It took around two months to create these trolls. If you are interested in Dambo’s trolls, there are many more to be found at trollmap.com
