Day 2-3: ECJ/New Brunswick

Leaving New River Beach Provincial Park Campground, we headed to Chignecto Campground in Fundy National Park. Along our route, we made a stop at the Saint Martins Sea Caves.

When we arrived, the sea caves were totally fogged in, and the tide was still a bit high. Thirty minutes later, the fog dissipated and the sun came out, allowing us to snap a few photos before continuing our journey along the Bay of Fundy to the western entrance of Fundy Trail Parkway.

Some of the overlooks were superbly baked in sunshine while others were soaked in fog, often too thick to get a decent photograph. We only had the afternoon to travel across this beautiful parkway. It deserved much more attention, which we hope to do in the future. Aanyone who has a few days or more should take some of the longer trails. They are spectacular! At the end of the day, UdaVAN rolled us into Chignecto Campground, where we set camp for the next two nights.

The next day, we journeyed our way to Cape Enrage. The main site itself is closed, but there were opportunities to photograph the lighthouse, which is still operational – the light and fog horn were in full swing due to the dense fog. From there we headed to Hopewell Rocks Provincial Park. Unfortunately, we arrived at high tide so we were unable to walk on the ocean floor and too late to partake of a kayak adventure through the rocks. Despite this, we were able to watch the kayakers paddle their way through the rocks. We do plan to stop back one day when we can participate in the act of paddling through these amazing rocks.

Before leaving Hopewell Rocks, it was decided to have lunch at the High Tide Cafe that is on site. We opted for outside seating, which gave us a wonderful view of the Bay Of Fundy. The High Tide Burger and a small bowl of Broccoli Dill Soup was our food choice. The entire meal was delicious, and our server, Julianna, was kind and attentive. We greatly appreciated the wonderful service she gave us.

On our way back to camp, we stopped at the Fundy National Park information Center and Gift Shop to pick up our obligatory national park sticker for UdaVAN. The staff was welcoming, friendly, and helpful.

We head next to Kouchibouguac National Park (one of our favorites!) where there are many trails to explore and events planned in the area.
