Arrived in Newfoundland

Five months ago, we booked our ferry crossing with Marine Atlantic, but could not get a cabin for the long 16-hour overnight ferry from North Sydney, Nova Scotia to Argentia, Newfoundland.  As such, our journey across was rather sleepless.  We spent our first night in Newfoundland at Argentia Sunset RV Park where we could get a hot shower and do laundry.  Krista greeted us upon arrival, and was most hospitable.  We hope to return someday.  This is an excellent stop for camping when coming off the long ferry.

Upon leaving, we were headed to Cape St. Mary’s Ecological Reserve.  We were hoping to observe the Gannets at Bird Rock, but the fog was so dense we opted to push on to the town of St. Mary’s, which was an hour away on the Irish Loop.  We hope we can revisit the Ecological Reserve on a future visit.

Having travelled Newfoundland last year, we discovered First Falls Park in the town of St. Mary’s, and were looking forward this year to a night’s stay in UdaVAN at this most amazing community park.  See more about the park in St. Mary’s in the next post.
