The Town of St. Mary’s has graciously allowed RV campers passing through the area to camp overnight in First Falls Park. This is the highlight of the Avalon Peninsula for us. Anyone travelling through this area should make a point of putting this stop on their itinerary. It is relaxing for adults, and playfully stimulating for children. If you are travelling through and decide to RV here for the night, please practice Leave No Trace principals and don’t forget to sign the guest book. Leave what you can for a donation as it will help to maintain this lovely spot.
We found the park to be pristine in every way. The trails were, from top to bottom, thoughtfully laid out, and lead you to St. Mary’s Bay. They are not only pleasant to walk for adults, the storybook nature along the trail is equally enjoyable for children. We found this to be a park for all ages. If you have disabilities, the trails may be difficult for you, but you can drive down to a pavilion overlooking the beauty of St. Mary’s Bay. You may even get to see the Gannets diving into the Bay to catch their next meal!
We thought all of this was quite amazing, but then came the night, when the magic really starts at 9:00 PM sharp! The trails were softly lit for a nighttime stroll through a beautiful fairytale. For the adults, you may catch a relaxing sunset. For the children, you get to walk through this magical fairytale land by soft light.
We hope, if you are driving through, you won’t miss the opportunity to spend some time here. Thank you, again, St. Mary’s, for this lovely park. Best wishes for the future!
